TWC Professor Emeritus Genevieve Wiggins celebrated her 80th birthday as honoree at a luncheon at Keith Mansion.  Friends donated over $500 for books for the Genevieve Wiggins Children’s Literature Room in our library!

Dr. Wiggins was a beloved professor of English at TWC for many years.  In 1992, her book L.M. Montgomery on the Anne of Green Gables author was published for the Twayne’s World Author Series.   She and Bill Akins are currently working on a book on the history of Tennessee Wesleyan College.  Dr. Wiggins is very active teaching, book-clubbing, and shape-note singing.

Pictured above are (front row) Sandra Clariday, Associate Dean for Library and Information Services, Dr. Wiggins, and Julie Adams, Associate Director of the Library; (back row) hostesses Chris Runyan, Barbara Arwood, and Patsy Cox.

Aww, how sweet! Dr Wiggins rocks. And what a great gift! By the time I read the things I have checked out, there will be lots of good new books to read. 🙂
